How to Add and Verify a New Business Number

To use a phone number for WhatsApp messaging, the number must be onboarded through the Messaging settings.
This process links your Squaretalk phone number to Meta’s WhatsApp ecosystem, allowing you to send and receive WhatsApp messages.

Step-by-Step: Add a Business Number for Messaging

  1. Go to Settings → Messaging → Business Numbers and click “+ Add Business Number”

  2. Choose an available phone number from the dropdown list.

📌 Important: The number must be allocated to your Squaretalk account and should not be active on any other WhatsApp platform.

  1. Add a Profile description and image

  2. Confirm Step 3 to be redirected to Meta's Signup Form to continue setting up your WhatsApp Business account.

📌 Important: Make sure you are logged in to your Facebook Profile in another tab within the same browser before continuing.

  1. Follow the on-screen pop-ups to complete the Meta integration.
  1. Select your Business Portfolio, choose an existing WABA from the drop-down menu below, or create a new one to assign the business number to.

📌 Important: If a WABA is already connected to another platform, it won’t show up.

  1. Add your WhatsApp phone number by selecting “Use a new or existing WhatsApp number” from the three options available.
  2. Select from the numbers already linked to the WABA that will appear in the drop-down menu, or onboard a new one. (To do so, just select “Add a new WhatsApp number”, select the country code, and enter the number in the field next to it.)
  3. Pick a verification method (text message or phone call), and click Next.

  4. Enter the verification code Meta provides via SMS or Voice call, and you can start configuring the phone number for WhatsApp usage.

💡Useful Tip: Choose phone call as a verification method to verify the numbers provided by Squaretalk. Check the steps below for more information.

Step-by-Step: Verify Your Business Number for Messaging

  1. Log in to the Squaretalk Platform and go to Settings → Voice → Phone Numbers
  2. Click on the phone number you want to verify
  3. Under Destination, select Extension. Choose your extension number, or the extension of the person who will answer the verification call.

  4. The number is now ready to receive the verification call.
  5. Follow the onboarding process in Meta (as described in the previous guide). At Step 8, choose ➡ Phone Call as the verification method.
  6. Go back to the Squaretalk Platform and answer the incoming call on the configured extension.
  7. Return to the Meta verification screen and enter the code provided during the call in the required field.

And that's it, congrats! Your number is now live.
