How to Change and View an Extension’s Password (Secret)

Each SIP or SIP/TLS extension in the Squaretalk Platform includes a unique password used to connect external devices such as softphones or desk phones.

If an agent changes devices, forgets their credentials, or experiences connection issues, you may need to view or update the extension password.

📌 Note: Admin permissions are required to access extension credentials.


Step-by-Step:  View an Extension’s Password

  1. Go to Settings → Users & Permissions → Users and click on the user (or user row) you want to update.

  2. A side panel will open with all User settings

  3. Go to the Extension tab inside the panel and find the Extension Secret field. From there, you can:

  1. use the visibility (eye) icon to reveal the password

  2. copy the password

  3. generate new secret or just type a preferred one in the field


📌 Important: If the extension is used with a Softphone (or Zoiper, MicroSIP, etc.) or a physical IP phone, you must update the password on the external device as well.
