How to Connect a SIP/TLS Extension to the Softphone

A SIP/TLS extension allows users to connect to the Squaretalk Platform using a secure SIP connection.

This guide explains how to configure a SIP/TLS extension and connect it to a softphone.

What Is the Difference Between SIP and SIP/TLS?

SIP (Standard SIP)

  • Uses plain, unencrypted SIP signaling

  • Works in most environments

  • May be blocked by strict networks or firewalls

SIP/TLS

  • Uses TLS encryption for SIP signaling

  • More secure and compliant

  • Often works better in restricted networks

  • Recommended for high-security environments

Step-by-Step: Connect the Extension to the Softphone

Once your SIP/TLS extension is enabled, you can connect the extension using your Softphone.
