How to Create a WhatsApp Template
How to Create a WhatsApp Template
WhatsApp templates allow you to send pre-approved messages(by Meta) to customers, such as notifications, reminders, or marketing campaigns.
Step-by-Step: Create a New Announcement
Go to Settings → Messaging → Templates and click “+ Add Template”
Enter a clear internal template Name (up to 512 characters)
Select the template Category:
Marketing (promotions, offers, campaigns)
Utility (alerts, updates, confirmations)
Select the correct WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).
Select the Language of the template manually.
📌 Important: You must create a separate message inside the template for each language you want to use.
In the Body field, write your template content.
Use AI Assistance to generate your message content based on a set prompt and conditions.
💡Useful Tip: You can also use Dynamic Values to automatically personalize messages using contact profile data.
Submit for approval to Meta. The template will appear in your list with a status indicating the approval stage.
Understanding the WhatsApp Template Approval Workflow
Templates are not active immediately. Approval usually takes a few minutes, but it can take up to 24 hours under Meta's terms.
Template statuses
You can track approval status in the template list:
Pending – Under review by Meta
Approved – Ready to be used by agents
Rejected – Not compliant with Meta policies (can be edited and resubmitted)
